Audience research - questionnaire

In order to define our target audience, we have created a questionnaire, which will give us information about who are target audience are, and what they want to see in a music video and what will give us the most success in appealing to them.

Evie Audience Questionnaire

We gave out 10 of these questionnaires to try and help us identify our target audience. As we had very little time to put these questionnaires together and collect the data, we had to pick people who were available at that particular moment in time, rather than choosing people who we thought based on our earlier findings through the UKtribes website we would be aiming our product at. Due to the fact that our genre of music is a niche genre, rather than being mainstream, this meant that we were not able to get the findings that we were hoping for, however some of the data lead to the strengthening of the idea we first had of our target audience, due to the fact that no one we found to answer our questionnaire was a specific fan of our artist or style of music and so we have been able to take some of our findings and apply the opposite to our target audience.

We have written our established target audience below, identifying them in the specific catergories which apply to target audience.

Gender: Although we do not wish to isolate either sex, it is clear from our research that the genre of music and the style of our video would be predominantly more appealing to the male gender.

Race: We will be aiming our product at all cultures and races, however due to the culture of western civilisation and their appetite for media consumption in comparison to a lot of other cultures our video may appeal more to a caucasian western market.

Age: 15-25: The querky ideas seen in music videos of the indie genre often appeal to a younger audience, people in a slightly older category may not find the ideas quite as fresh and interesting and may have greater formed opinions and so be less willing to be open to ideas which go against the norm.

Socio-economic

Status: E-C: We have chosen to look at a lower socio-economic status, because our target age range involves students, who make up the susiduary category - E. They will probably make up the main part of our taget audience.
